Bendewald Point Ranch

Posted on: May 9th, 2023 by Freddy Rouse

Bendewald Point Ranch is just over 500 acres conveniently located just outside of the charming fishing town of Seadrift on Highway 185 between Victoria and Port O’Connor in southwestern Calhoun County. Bound on the northwestern side by Mission Lake, formerly called Mission Bay. Approximately 300 acres of lush semi-improved pastureland, as well as approximately 200 acres of nutrient rich wetlands. This ranch offers a launch from Guadalupe Bay which leads into San Antonio Bay for fishing the flats of Flat Bayou, Big Bayou, and Swan Lake back country.

With all the water, coastal prairies, and marshes, Seadrift has a subtropical climate that is a great habitat for waterfowl and fur-bearing animals. Common waterfowl species that winter on the property are Northern Pintail, Gadwall, Northern Shoveled, American Wigeon, Green and Blue Winged Teal, Cinnamon Teal, Redhead, Scaup, Canvasback, Snow Geese, Sandhill Crane, Snipe, and Rails. Fish found in the bay include Black drum, Redfish, Sheepshead, and Spotted Seatrout. Wetland ponds and duck blinds already in place. The shallow water areas are graded efficiently to allow for a vast area to be covered by even levels of water that can be flooded and drained. The wetlands are restrained by sturdy levies and relieved by a water control structure located along the eastern boundary. The area is bordered by a 50-foot-tall berm (raised bank with a road) in most places where you get a panoramic view of the bay and spot deer and cattle from elevated positions.

Rich soils allow for healthy grazing pastures, as well as tree cover for cattle and wildlife. In addition to the many outdoor recreation uses, this fertile property is suitable to support a healthy, cattle grazing operation, among the quality pastures of native and improved grasses. The property is improved with two water wells that can be used to supply water to wildlife and cattle, a ranch house or improvements, as well as flood wetlands for waterfowl. Electricity in place.

The Calhoun County Navigation District controls and uses an improved easement for the retention of materials from the dredging of the Victoria Barge Canal. This occurs periodically every 3-5 years. The presence of this easement creates an excellent habitat for waterfowl, as well as preserves this incredible coastal property from being over-developed. The property is currently leased for cattle and hunting with temporary pens and hunting trailers. Incredible investment opportunity! Please call Freddy Rouse at 281-844-8704 to schedule an appointment 48 hours in advance.
